“When Donald Trump held a rally last year in Erie County, an important area in the battleground state of Pennsylvania, the top Republican official there went one by one to the 11,000 people waiting in line to ask one question: Would you like to vote by mail?

It did not go well.

“I tried to give them a mail-in ballot application, and could only get out about 300,” Tom Eddy, head of the county’s Republican Party, said. “Every one of them said either, ‘No, that’s not the right way to vote,’ or ‘Trump does not agree with it.’”

In recent months, the legislature has debated bills that would mandate disclosure of artificial intelligence-generated images, ban TikTok from state-owned phones, and require monitoring of minors’ social media. 3. How The Economy — And Philadelphia — Could Determine The Presidential Election

“The race for the presidency is in full swing, and the state of Pennsylvania — and more specifically Philadelphia — may well decide who wins.

This forecast is based on a model of presidential elections that my colleagues and I at Moody’s Analytics have been using to predict who will be the next president in elections going back to Bush vs. Gore in 2000.

Given that we are economists, it is no surprise that the principle underpinning our model is that the economy may not be at the top of voters’ minds in every election, but it is rarely less than a close second. In other words: “It’s the economy, stupid.”” (Philadelphia Inquirer)

5. The Legend Of The Bald Eagle Mountains

“Central Pennsylvania is dotted with old legends. Interesting stories dating back hundreds of years cover the area, and many of them were documented by Henry Wharton Shoemaker.

Shoemaker was a writer and folklorist from Clinton County. He is known for having written down old legends into his books, preserving them for the future. He has been accused of manufacturing or embellishing them, but many people believe that he wrote them down largely as they were told to him. And his books are an entertaining view of the folklore of Pennsylvania’s past.” (NorthCentralPA.com)
